In this week’s ETFs and markets video, Strategas Asset Management ETF Strategist Todd Sohn walks us through key charts and stats about the China equity market to aid investor's decision making when analyzing if they should invest in Chinese Equities.

 

DEFINITIONS
An exchange-traded fund (ETF) is a pooled investment security that can be bought and sold like an individual stock. 
 
Fund flows represent the cash that goes into or out of companies, financial assets, sectors, or other market categories.
 
Assets under management (AUM) is the market value of the investments managed by a person or entity on behalf of clients. AUM is used in conjunction with management performance and management experience when evaluating a company.
 
The iShares MSCI China Exchange Traded Fund (MCHI) tracks the MSCI China Index, which is a market-cap-weighted index of Chinese equity securities.
 
The MSCI China Indexes consist of a range of market capitalization weighted and alternative weighted indexes for the Chinese markets, intended for both domestic and international investors, including Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFII) licensees.
 
Long volatility is a strategy that involves buying assets when volatility is low and selling them when it is high.
 
A long-duration strategy describes an investing approach in which an investor focuses on bonds with a high duration value.
 
An annualized return is a measure of how much an investment has increased on average each year during a specific period.
 
A global equity portfolio is one that includes both foreign and domestic investments.
 
A correction is a decline of 10 percent or more from an asset's most recent high.
 
ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) is an actively managed Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) that seeks long-term growth of capital by investing under normal circumstances primarily (at least 65% of its assets) in domestic and foreign equity securities of companies that are relevant to the Fund’s investment theme of disruptive innovation.
 
The MSCI EAFE Index is an equity index which captures large and mid cap representation across Developed Markets countries around the world, excluding the US and Canada. 
 
The S&P 500 Index or Standard & Poor's 500 Index is a market-capitalization-weighted index of 500 leading publicly traded companies in the U.S.
 
The iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF seeks to track the investment results of an index composed of large- and mid-capitalization emerging market equities.
